Which app should you use for social media recipes?

If you mostly find recipes in Reels and TikToks, use an app that says it imports from social links. ReciMe states this in its listing. If you cook from recipe blogs and want a serious planner, Paprika or Crouton. If you want a clean iCloud-synced app for websites, Mela. If your problem is that you save recipes and never cook them, KEEP helps with the decision, not the ingredient list.

We checked the US App Store on October 10, 2026. Ratings and prices change, so verify before you pay. KEEP is our app and is still in development.

ReciMe: for recipes from social media

ReciMe's listing says it saves recipes from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest, converting them into ingredients and method steps. It adds grocery lists sorted by aisle or recipe, a meal planner, cookbooks, nutrition information, a cook mode that keeps the screen awake, and cloud sync across iPhone and iPad. The listing separates a free version from a premium subscription: unlimited social downloads and nutrition are premium, with a 7-day trial. It has the most ratings in this list.

Paprika, Mela and Crouton: for cooks who plan

Paprika costs $4.99 in the US store and is built for planning: grocery lists, a pantry with expiry tracking, meal calendars, scaling and unit conversion, and sync between devices. It downloads recipes from websites and imports from other apps. Mela is a lighter app with iCloud sync, an in-app browser that detects recipes on the page, a share extension, recipe-blog feeds, cook mode and timers. Crouton imports from websites, can scan a printed recipe using AI and OCR, offers a step-by-step cooking mode with hands-free control and can generate a meal plan.

If your recipes come from blogs and cookbooks, these three are strong. If they come mostly from short videos, check how each app handles a social link before you commit, since listings differ on what they import.

Where does KEEP fit?

KEEP does not read ingredients or build grocery lists. It holds the link, a preview, your note and, for screenshots, the text read from the image. Its value is the question it asks: when you choose the Try reason, KEEP asks if you want to try it, with the answers "I want to try it", Someday or a reference option such as Just a recipe. Only a yes goes to the Do tab, which sorts commitments into Now, This week and Later. Reference recipes stay in Keeps.

Use KEEP beside a recipe manager if you save a lot of recipes and cook few. Recipe screenshots can be read and filed into a Recipes folder, with Try as the suggested action. See save with a reason for the saving flow. Limits: iPhone only, English and Russian, no share-sheet button yet, items stored on a server under a random device ID.

How do I choose?

The guide to saving recipes from Instagram and TikTok lists manual methods that work in any app.

  1. Do you cook from video links? Try ReciMe first.
  2. Do you plan weekly meals and shop with a list? Paprika or Crouton.
  3. Do you want a simple, private library synced through iCloud? Mela.
  4. Do you already have a manager and need the nudge to cook? Add KEEP or a weekly three-recipe plan.

What should a recipe app do for social video?

Recipes from videos are messy. A good app should do four things. It should read the caption or the video for ingredients and steps, and let you edit the result, since extraction makes mistakes. It should scale servings and convert units. It should build a grocery list from several recipes and merge duplicates. And it should keep the original link, so you can go back to the creator's page.

Test with three of your own saved videos before you pay. Look at how each app handles a recipe where the amounts are only spoken. Free versions often limit how many social recipes you can import, so check the cap in the app.

Do I need an app at all?

Not always. If you cook a handful of social recipes a month, a note with the caption pasted in and a cooking day is enough. The manual methods cost nothing. An app earns its place when you cook from your saved recipes weekly, plan meals, shop from a list and want ingredients scaled. Past that point, the time saved on a grocery list alone repays the effort of setting it up.

Whatever you use, cap the number of saved recipes. Twenty you intend to cook this month are worth more than 400 you will not.

What about general save apps like Sorti or Tote?

Some apps are not recipe managers but accept recipe screenshots and posts alongside everything else. Sorti describes itself as an AI app that organizes screenshots, posts, products and recipes into categories. Tote says its AI extracts details from screenshots, Reels and TikToks and makes them searchable. They suit people who save many kinds of things and want one place. A dedicated recipe app still wins on grocery lists, scaling and cook mode. See the KEEP vs Sorti comparison for one of them in detail.
